Meet our sponsored rider Ashlee De Bakker. When she isn't racing, Ash is serving her community as a Detective Sergeant. With the ultimate ambition of becoming the first woman on the podium in a 1000cc superbike race and becoming Australia's fastest woman, we are proud to sponsor her on this exciting journey.
It's hard to believe Ash only started riding in late 2014 and now she is tearing up the track on her Kawasaki ZX-10R. With two D grade championships in the Formula Oz category of the Australian Formula Extreme Championships (AFX) Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC) under her belt, she is a force to be reckoned with.
Ash explains: "Racing has always been in my blood and my family have always been involved in some form of motorsport. The smell of racing fuel on a Sunday morning is what makes me tick. So to start racing probably was a fairly natural thing for me to do."
Ash realised early on that motorcycling would be far more enjoyable if she was good at it. After signing up for a MotoDNA course, she was hooked. Riding became an addiction for Ash. She signed up for many more track days and one-on-one coaching sessions with Alex Cudlin (superbike racer and World Endurance Champion).
It was when she met Kawasaki Factory Team Owner Kelvin Reilly at one of the MotoDNA courses, who encouraged her to give racing a go. She had one race on her Kawasaki Ninja 300 and crashed, breaking her pelvis. Ash then returned to racing on a Kawasaki ZX-10R.
We look forward to watching and supporting Ash throughout the racing season. Ashlee's next race is this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park. She will be competing in round 1 of the St George Motorcycle Club Road Race.
