Motorbike Boots

Motorbike boots are an important piece of apparel for a motorcycle rider to wear both on-road and off-road. Boots typically range from above the ankle to below the knee, which reduces the chances of injuries to feet, ankles and legs in an accident, but are manufactured differently for on-road & off-road riding.

Motorcycle boots generally have the typical boot, but a low heel to control the motorcycle. The heel of a racing boot however is very low, with the sole and heel being smoother, and may include a curved plastic or composite plate to protect and cover the rider's shin.

Motorcycle boots are generally made from a thick, heavy leather and may include energy absorbing and load spreading padding, metal, plastic and/or composite materials. Boots which are for use with wet weather however have a waterproof membrane lining such as Gore-Tex or SympaTex.

Motorbike boots are specifically designed for Off-Road riding but are worn for the same purpose as on-road boots which are to help protect the feet, ankles and legs of the rider. They are used for all off-road, motocross or all-terrain vehicle riding and are typically much stiffer than regular motorcycle boots including ones for racing.

They are usually knee high in height and open length wise with multiple straps made along the foot, ankle and shaft of the boot.

The construction can be a combination of leather, metal, plastic and/or man-made composite materials to create a very-form fitting, comfortable tight boot.

Manufacturers also ensure their motorcycle footwear has a curved plastic or composite plate covering the shin of their boots.
